Our standard

nTher has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. This includes child sexual abuse material of any kind, whether photographs, videos, drawings or computer-generated images; grooming; sextortion; trafficking; and any content or contact that sexualises or endangers a child. It is forbidden by our terms of use and by law.

What we do

  • We remove it and close the accounts responsible, permanently, and refuse them a new one.
  • We report it. We report child sexual abuse and exploitation to the police and through India's National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, as Indian law requires, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and the Information Technology Act, 2000, and we keep what the authorities need.
  • We act within 24 hours of a report about a child's safety, and at once where a child may be in danger.
  • We cooperate with requests from law enforcement made under Indian law.

How nTher is built to protect children

  • nTher is only for people aged 18 and over. Each person confirms it before they can send anything.
  • People can only find and message others in their own organisation. There are no public rooms, no random or anonymous chat, and no way for a stranger outside your organisation to message you.
  • Anyone can report a message or a person, and block a person, from inside the app.
  • We cannot read end-to-end encrypted conversations, so we rely on the people in them: a report sends us the reported message from the reporter's own copy.

How to report

In the app

  1. Touch and hold the message and choose Report….
  2. Choose Sexual content, or Something else, and say in the note that it involves a child.
  3. Choose Send report. To report the person, open their profile and choose Report their name….
  • By email: grievance@nther.com. Please do not attach the material itself. Give the person's username, the conversation and the time.
  • If a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 112, or the child helpline on 1098.
  • You can also report directly to India's National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, cybercrime.gov.in.
